Home » PLA CARRIES OUT MILITARY DRILLS IN PANGONG TSO: LADAKH
21 Aug 2017/Monday
PLA troops deployed in Pangong Tso lake area have increased water patrol and attack drills recently. In order to pressurise India the PLA has also reportedly deployed a Surface Search Radar and Carried Out Construction of 75 Mtr Pier and 20 Mtr Breakwater in the disputed area of Pangong Tso lake in Ladakh. The PLA has also deployed high speed boats in the lake to carry out patrol in the area. This development comes in back drop of clashes between two border guarding forces og China and India, involving stone pelting and resulting in injuries on both sides.
The above incident clearly proves frustration of China in not being successful in resolving Doklam Stand off as per its design and liking. China wants to now enlarge the scope of conflict by opening up on many flash points. Pangong incident is one of such points raked up by China to pressurise India. Having been on back foot, China will try all tricks at its disposal to provoke India into committing an act which would put it at a position of disadvantage in the current standoff and provide China a face saving exit option.
