Home » PAKISTAN’S DISGRACED EX-PM RE-ELECTED HEAD OF RULING PARTY
03 Oct 17/Tuesday
Politics in Pakistan has ruptured to such an extent that its long-term endurance is beyond recovery. The political class is embroiled only in mudslinging, defying national interest or common ground for corrective measures. The political discourse has become very bitter, with political parties involving charges and counter-charges publicly threatening to knock one another out of the political process. Majority of the top leaders face legal references for not fully declaring their foreign assets and properties, their bank loan write-offs, alleged corrupt money-making practices and related issues. Political leaders in Pakistan are maligned as a class. There are strains in civil-military relations which their Army chief often brings out in the open. Given the mass-elite distance, absence of institutional infrastructure for popular participation, coupled with nonexistent variable i.e., social development, it appears that decay is all over in the social, political, and economic scenario of Pakistan.
