1.  Chinese authority have issued orders banning travel to Tibet from outside the politically sensitive region from 18-28 Oct. The ban was announced about ten days ago. During this pd, it is not just foreigners but also Tibetans living in the Amdo region of Qinghai who are not allowed to travel in the TAR. The ban will remain in place for the duration of the ruling CPC’s 19th National Congress to be held in Beijing next month.

2.  China urged all relevant parties to avoid any action that may increase tension on the Korean Peninsula after the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) said it might test a hydrogen bomb in the Pacific Ocean. According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang, the current sit on the peninsula is severe and complicated and only if all sides bear their due responsibilities, can the peninsula nuclear issue be truly resolved and peace and stability restored to the region.

3.  China announced that it will limit oil exports to North Korea under UN sanctions over its nuclear and missile development, further reducing supply from Pyongyang’s last major trading partner and energy supplier. Exports of refined petroleum to the North Korea will be limited to two million barrels per year and sales of liquefied natural gas banned outright, effective from 01 Jan. The current size of Chinese energy sup to North Korea and how much that would be reduced were unclear. China also will ban textile imports from North Korea.
