Close to Peshawar in Pakistan lies Darra Adam Khel, a market, is fuelling the militancy problem in Kashmir. This market is the hub of cheap Chinese copies of weapons like AK47s, rifles, automatic and semi-automatic revolvers where neither licences nor fat wallets are required to buy arms. Funding is not a problem for militant groups and neither is acquiring weapons. They have sources that pay a visit to Darra Adam Khel and buy arms at very cheap rates and supply them to the militant organisations along the India-Pakistan border. Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leader Hafiz Saeed’s dwindling powers have catapulted Masood Azhar to greater strength, which has led to the JeM being sheltered increasingly by Pakistan. With the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Hizbul Mujahideen decapitated and rudderless due to a lack of strong leadership in Kashmir, JeM has become the new threat. Pakistan’s foreign minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif’s apology to global terrorist Hafiz Saeed on a TV channel for remarks made by the politician in his recent US visit shows the clout of jihadists in that nation. It is evident that Asif was so scared of Saeed that he ended up calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “terrorist” in a bid to appease the man who carries a $10 million bounty on his head.
The involvement of the Pakistan, particularly the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in targeting India, is a well known fact. However, it has now reached a new level where Chinese-manufactured war ordnance is being passed to jihadists to kill in Kashmir. On 26th Aug, after a (JeM) suicide attack at a police camp in Pulwama, south Kashmir two AK-47s, one AK-56 assault rifle, 8 to 10 Chinese grenades, armour piercing ammunition and an under barrel rocket launcher were recovered. The fact is that the military tactical or strategic capability of both North Korea and Pakistan has Chinese origins with no cost to the mother state. At the same time we cannot overlook the fact that Pakistan is in isolation after US abandoned it. India and China are brushing differences slowly but certainly. Pakistan is unable to generate sufficient negativity towards India in Chinese leadership. So it is trying to build differences between two matured, ancient and Asian giants by giving Chinese arms to Pakistani terrorists. By this it is trying to put proof in Indian soil that Chinese are involved to create an atmosphere of uneasiness. The possibility that Pakistan is nefariously trying to breed in the the differences between the two powerful neighbours is what needs to be analysed deliberately.
