As already reported in our portal and highlighted by Myanmar Nobel laureate that her country is a victim of false propaganda of jihadi groups, Dhaka Tribune unearthed a series of pages on Facebook groups, Youtube channels and Telegram groups used by the jihadi forces. In these groups and channels, not only help and humanitarian support was sought but also call for all jihadi groups was given to join forces to create Rakhine state. They even gave it a name calling it “Burma Calling”.
The statement used various quotes from the Quran and Hadeeth as it urged “jihadists” in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and the Philippines to heed the call. Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi, widely recognized as the de facto leader of Myanmar, rightly claimed that the jihadi forces lost steam after attrition from a concerted force of western powers in Afghanistan and Syria, Indian forces in Kashmir etc. To gain momentum they are piggybacking on the Rohingyas issues. The Rohingyas latest violence was started by Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) attack on Burmese security outposts in Rakhine area of Myanmar on 25 Aug 2017, killing more than twelve security personnel.
All of the pages also posted a recent two-page statement by the General Leadership of Al-Qaeda regarding the formation of a fund to aid Rohingya refugees, which further called for militant groups to train and set out for the Rakhine state.
The statement used various quotes from the Quran and Hadeeth as it urged “jihadists” in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and the Philippines to heed the call.
Security specialists in India and Bangladesh expressed that security risks at the border could escalate significantly should militants actively begin to mobilize in accordance with the statement. Thus had advised their governments to contain movements of Rohingyas in their countries and refrain them from giving a free entry.
